1/13 Sinds the beginning of the syrian war the syrian intelligence agencies was extremely active with intel gathering and infiltration in possible plots so the intel agency’s where prepared.
2/13 Sins Syria has dealt with a lot of conspiracies to act against the government internally or straight up coups that was for long the focus of the intelligence agencies so tactics where developed and people where trained to act as plants just in case.
3/13 So now after 7 years of war we start to discover the extent of the infiltration that the intel services have achieved and it turns out most groups are deeply infiltrated.
4/13 In idlib the result of the infiltrations where huge, top militant group commanders where actually intelligence agencies plants which resulted in the death of many militants through advanced warning of offensives and bombing targets
5/13 Also, plants within ISIS reached to the very top with that info the syrian government managed to get proof of collusion and military info which resulted in the elimination of large numbers of militants and even get info of convoy movements.
6/13 The video of the huge trap in east ghouta that killed 170 jihadists was the result of plants surveillance and careful planning. In general, most ambushes happen based on intel often from a turncoat commander
7/13the infiltration wasn’t only limited to military operations,militant ‘institutions’ of where also targeted sharia courts,‘ministry’s’political leadership etc. where all infiltrated at some level by the intel cervices mostly hts/ahrar/isis where targets for these infiltrations
8/13 There are multiple agency’s that work within Syria they are: the Mukhabarat, air force intelligence, the general intelligence directorate and the national security bureau. All these intel agency’s operate with different motives, methods and goals.
9/13 The air force intelligence is arguably the most important intel agency it is the closest organisation the syrian army has to the CIA responsible for outside spying efforts, domestic projects and military intel gathering for which they built an extensive network of spies.
10/13 The Mukhabarat is the most infamous organisation also the military intel agency it stands under the direct command of Assad and is responsible for military intel including counter insurgency, monitoring military formations, online surveillance, civil security.
11/13 the general intelligence directorate is the main domestic agency which is a wing of the interior ministry. This organisation is responsible for the monitoring of civil unrest, foreign plots, foreign groups and is the primary organisation dealing with the Palestinian cause
12/13 and the national security bureau is an arm of the Baath party with which has overlapping responsibility’s with the other bureaus it is responsible for the security for plots against the government and civil security. In the war the agency recruits spy’s with ideology.
13/13 in the end the syrian intel cervices have helped the war effort in a huge way. Causing infighting, shotty tactics, sharing info with the saa, supplying bombing targets, preventing attacks both on the battlefield/civilian targets. Locating commanders, assassinations and more
