argentina 🇦🇷 is a country that went through hyperinflation in 1989 and a currency pegged to the dollar 💵 during the 90’s until it defaulted in 2001 and people’s savings were lost.

this country is now leading the world regarding blockchain based technology. here’s why:

the startup @ZeppelinOrg has audited over $1.5 billion in smart contracts, being responsible for many of the largest ICOs of 2017. its libraries are a must go source for anyone working on ethereum. founded by @demibrener & @maraoz, ITBA graduates, the best engineering university.

there’s @RSKsmart, that is paving the way to deliver the promise of smart contracts on top of bitcoin by doing a two way peg; led by @dieguito, @GabrielKurman and @SDLerner (who also developed ASICboost and has interesting theories on who satoshi was).

also @xapo was founded by internet pioneer @wences being one of the first consumer friendly wallet companies. among the most influential voices of silicon valley, @wences now also sits in the board of @paypal and introduced many in the valley to crypto.

recently @decentraland who did a successful ICO last year, launched its marketplace to acquire land in the 3D virtual reality world they’re creating.
founded by @eordano and @arimeilich, it’s not just a metaverse but they’re also pioneering the link between real estate & crypto.

for peer to peer credits, @RCN_token is one of the most promising platforms based on co-signed smart contracts who also did a great ICO last year; led by @sserrano44 who was among the first ones to sell bitcoin on a large scale in argentina.

then there’s @SignaturaCo for digital signatures and document notarization based on the opentimestamps standard founded by some of the most vocal voices of the local community: @franamati, @GonBlousson and @federicobond.

if you care about your data, the recently launched @WibsonOrg founded by the brilliant @mtravizano is delivering a platform that will help you monetize information gathered by social media platforms. a spin-off of @GrandataCorp which has a solid track record dealing with big data

i’ve seen the rise of crypto markets in argentina 🇦🇷 as a partner of @bitexla, one of the leading exchanges founded by @nubis_bruno, @mbeaudroit, @ipulicorum among others & since 2014 the appetite for an alternative to central banks and fiat currency has been spectacular.

my line of work in the space is more political, promoting bitcoin early on at @PartidodelaRed and today focused on understanding the intersection between voting and blockchains with @DemocracyEarth. i’ve met all of the folks mentioned here and have deep respect for their work.

when i think about the future of argentina 🇦🇷, it is this new generation of entrepreneurs that comes to my mind who are not shy of tackling global problems and can bring the lessons learned from our past failures as a nation to improve money, trust and society as we know it.

and of course more projects came to mind after pressing the ‘tweet’ button like @federicoast’s @Kleros_io project to rethink justice or big industrial mining companies like @BitPatagonia and @Bitfarms_io.

crypto is in our dna: argent means silver (plata in spanish).

think about the core functions each one of these projects touches:

trust, contracts, property, signatures, custody, credit, sovereignty, voting, justice.

it’s a whole blueprint for a crypto-driven society. a very real decentralized revolution.
