Time for a thread, kids:

There are people who work in comics who agree with Comicsgate trolls. They agree with the racism. The transphobia. The homophobia. The vile bigotry that's being pumped out on YouTube. That's why they don't fight it.

There are others who can't risk their jobs. They work for companies where if they take a hard line with virtually anything, they chance not having any more work. There are still others who take risks behind closed doors to right wrongs. They do what they can.

NONE of this helps the people who are left flapping in the wind to scramble and find ways to protect themselves alone.

THAT'S what I have a problem with.

The lack of community in my community.

I've said it many times. This is family. You protect your own. There is no reason good enough to allow a vulnerable human being to go on feeling vulnerable when they are under attack.

To publishers, editors, writers, artists, letterers, webcomic kids, fans and beyond:

Comics means family. We have to keep each other safe.

I'm doing what I can right now to lead by example. What I have in abundance is love. So that's the flag I'm flying.

These times are divisive. The powers that be seek to harm the most vulnerable among us. Our community is not being spared.

I'm asking you to love each other. To link elbows against those who want to rip us apart. I'm asking you to reach out to those who's names you have seen being dragged through the dirt. Reach out to those under fire. Tell them they have your support.

I've stood alone to take hits many times. They can't hurt me anymore. I'm fine. But many others are not fine. They need you.

I'm asking you to rally.

I'm asking you to stand by your team mates.

The best way to do this is to use your platform to make your feelings known. That's my hope. To hear all of your voices in unison. To witness you come out of hiding.

I already know who among you has hatred in their hearts. To you I say, you're a dinosaur. You don't matter.

To the rest of you.

Please.

Find it within yourself to take a stand.

This isn't just happening in comics. This isn't really about our funny books. This is real life. The price that is being paid will only get bigger.
