Let's count the ways this is very offensive.
1. Bernie Sanders, a white male who has done the bare minimum expected of any left leaning candidate for racial issues, is giving a speech in Mississippi of all places on MLK Jr.
2. He did this after having had no people of color in his staff at the House and then the Senate for 30 years.
3. Further after he took advantage of the trustee system in a state with 1.2% Black people with 10.7 incarceration rate back when he was Mayor of Burlington.
4. This is the person who is supposed to speak to racial justice? To the equality that MLK Jr. died to create?
5. He then dismissively says that there was only one person who won in the past fifteen years for the Democratic Party.
6. Not giving credit to the Democratic wave years of 2006 that built up to the historic election of Barack Obama in 2008 and the furtherance of the wave as we picked up 52 seats in the House and 14 in the Senate.
7. During that time he also got to move up from one chamber to the other.
8. Then, as is his wont, he didn't care that what Obama did was such a huge step forward for this country it sparked a backlash he happily took advantage of in 2016.
9. Dismissing how important it was to have this continuation of Dr. King's legacy. I remember in 2008 this book: bloomsbury.com/us/our-childre…
10. I may have been mad about how us women didn't get to have our chance to celebrate in 2008 (and that he damn well made sure we couldn't in 2016) but I knew and know this was so important.
11. The pictures of the Black children who got to see that someone like them, to know they too could one day make it to the White House, that is such a powerful thing.
12. But for Sanders, meh. He didn't think that it was important. On the day we mourn the loss and celebrate the legacy of Dr. King.

Who he marched with-he probably got that in. *rolls eyes*
But he didn't march in this one or the one that happened fifty years later.
