All in all, super fun session. We started in medias res where we had been captured by The Golden Wurm, a centipede looking ship. We were on route to deliver an obelisk to a Planet when we were captured and taken to the ship, which was super cool and had an Egyptian motif.
Our princess playbook character, a cyborg-esk species has a powerful family and cowed them into releasing us until a sneaky jerk one killed their leader and attacked us. After a few misses things devolved and I shot the window out to suck them out into space
Almost killing our Ardent (Jedi-like character) who got huffy at me, Fault, for saving us all. Imagine.
We had some nice character scenes to wrap up and felt it was a pretty dang positive session.
Some personal hang ups of mine that I need to get over is how tropey the archetypes are. I made some off-hand comments about annoying Star Wars tropes that haven’t aged well and stuff but the game, although packaged with that stuff, totally allows you to subvert that.
I just caught myself being like, oh yeah someone finds the inter species princess attractive because of course they do, it’s the 80’s and intersectional babies are the most attractive and we should fetishize them. And that’s when I clued in that I should put that shit aside.
It’s gonna be a bit tropey but we can subvert stuff as we go and it’ll be fine. I feel bad I put some of the stuff on blast and once we got into it none of that stuff came up in the fiction anyways. Excited to see where it goes and who Fault is!?
