I had lunch with my Pastor yesterday. We discussed many things, including my growing scepticism about the traditional structure of physical churches.
I also mentioned that I was no longer attending church regularly, as I was taking some personal time to deconstruct the nature of Christ's relationship with humans, outside church walls.

(THREAD) After 30 years of testing as Lawful Good, today I came up Lawful Neutral for the first time. I suspect it's because—at 41—I'm learning that those who elevate their subjective view of what is good over the continued existence of a lawful society can collapse that society.
2/ I don't have any doubt Trump is Chaotic Evil. (Many educated people out there who—like me—don't play D&D nevertheless see that game's moral framework as a useful starting point for discussion). And I think all those working for him are *deliberately* working on behalf of evil.
3/ If I'm Lawful Neutral, I'm as likely to oppose someone who is Chaotic Evil as anyone is—a Chaotic Evil villain like Trump doesn't believe in the rule of law and perpetuates a lawless environment in which evil (and not any sort of peaceful, just, tolerant balance) is ascendant.

A short thread: The insane glorification of overtime work.

1) It's such a Malaysian/Asian mentality to overwork staff. They're paid for 9-5, but are expected to work till 8 or 9 at least, be on call after, and work some weekends.
2) This is absolutely immoral. If a company wants its people to work those hours, they should damn well pay them for it. The system of praising people who do crazy overtime as "team players" and shaming people into doing it for free is basically glorified slave labour.
3) This is terrible for long-term productivity. People burn out, get alienated, disenchanted, etc. They end up with no time for interests outside work, and no time for personal development (which includes rest, relationships, reading, sports, etc).

It's really not difficult to understand this.

The birthrate is plunging in the U.S. because it's too expensive to raise a child. And it's too expensive to raise a child because of a combination of right-wing social policy and economic shifts our government hasn't prepared for.
First, the U.S. has no mandate for paid parental leave, no universal pre-K, no universal health care, no long-term cash welfare, and not only no universal higher education, but we've slashed subsidies that keep tuition rates low.

Now the GOP is trying to slash food aid too!
Oh and let's not forget housing. Ever since 1960s era reforms that codified housing policy can't be whites-only, we've slashed housing assistance. It's now unaffordable to buy or rent a place big enough for children in most every city where there are jobs in significant numbers.
