Interesting perspective.
I am not so sure that Google doesn't care about your privacy. When was the last time your search history leaked? Wouldn't that be unbelievably damaging to Google if it did?
To be clear, Google definitely wants as much of your data as possible, but they're certainly not being cavalier with it as Facebook is.
Absolutely agree that Apple needs to step up, though. To me, the ideal situation is a company that says they care about privacy, implements technology that actively helps protect your privacy, and beats the competition to the punch.
Apple isn't doing that today, and that's going to have ramifications for the next 10-20 years at a minimum.
