While I believe that we should celebrate women everyday, it’s always special to have one whole day dedicated to recognize their profound impact on our lives.

Before #InternationalWomensDay2020 ends, I’d like to pay my respects to 4 remarkable women. #SheInspiresUs Thread:
Ahilyabai Holkar (1725-1775)

She single-handedly led armies into battle, regained lost territory, rebuilt temples plundered, desecrated, & destroyed by Islamic invaders (1/n)
And laid the foundation for a prosperous kingdom. She lived her life based on an important Hindu belief- to never give up, to continue rebuilding that which is destroyed, & to continue going eternally.

Gratitude to Hon’ble President Ram Nath Kovind Ji for conferring ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’ upon 16 women who have redefined compassion, courage & capability. These 16 inspiring women are the driving forces of the ‘New India’ we aspire to build.
The first women fighter pilots of the Indian Air Force Avani Chaturvedi, Bhawana Kanth, and Mohana Singh proved sky has no limit. Their determination to succeed & fighter spirit has inspired several young girls to pursue their dreams. #SheInspiresUs
Bhageerathi Amma and Karthyayini Amma’s will to educate themselves, even at the age of 105 and 96 respectively proved there is no age to learn! For their undying determination, they have been awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar. #SheInspiresUs

I always dreamt of reviving the traditional crafts of Kashmir because this is a means to empower local women.

I saw the condition of women artisans and so I began working to revise Namda craft.

I am Arifa from Kashmir and here is my life journey. #SheInspiresUs
When tradition meets modernity, wonders can happen. I experienced this in my work. It is designed to suit the modern day market.

My first business activity was participating in an exhibition of handmade items in New Delhi. This exhibit attracted a good clientele and a turnover.
This gesture by PM @narendramodi has boosted my morale and it'll help me to work harder for the betterment of craft as well as the artisans all over Kashmir.

I feel it is important for more women to focus on becoming self-reliant and help other women. #SheInspiresUs

Acceptance is the greatest reward we can give to ourselves. We can’t control our lives but we surely can control our attitude towards life. At the end of the day, it is how we survive our challenges that matters most.

Know more about me and my work- @MalvikaIyer #SheInspiresUs
I survived a gruesome bomb blast at the age of 13 that blew off my hands and severely damaged my legs. Yet, I worked and went on to get my PhD.

Giving up is never an option. Forget your limitations and take on the world with confidence and hope - @MalvikaIyer #SheInspiresUs
I believe that education is indispensable for change. We need to sensitize young minds about discriminatory attitudes. We need to show people with disabilities as role models instead of showing them as weak and dependent. - @MalvikaIyer #SheInspiresUs

You heard of food for thought. Now, it is time for action and a better future for our poor.

Hello, I am @snehamohandoss. Inspired by my mother, who instilled the habit of feeding the homeless, I started this initiative called Foodbank India. #SheInspiresUs
I work with volunteers, many of whom are outside India, to work towards eradicating hunger. We have over 20 chapters and have impacted several people with our work. We also initiated activities like mass cooking, cooking marathons, breast feeding awareness drives- @snehamohandoss
I feel empowered when I do what I'm passionate about! I wish to inspire my fellow citizens, especially women to come forward and join hands with me. I urge everyone to feed atleast one needy person and contribute to a hunger free planet. - @snehamohandoss

Ahilyabai Holkar.

A widow who became Malwa's great queen.

Defended her kingdom and personally led armies into battle. Never plundered anyone. Developed Malwa into a prosperous kingdom. Rebuilt temples destroyed by Aurangzeb. Built Dharmashalas at many Tirthas

Map showing temples built by Ahilyabai Holkar.

Excepting territories controlled by Afghans, Nawabs & British, she built temples everywhere.
Without her, ALL Tirthas would have been in ruins and there wouldn't be any standing temple.

Built numerous tanks for people's welfare
Ahilyabai who built temples, orphanages, residences and irrigation tanks all over India led a modest personal life.

She used to live in this small residence in Maheshwar. Never built anything for herself. The Saint Queen used to sleep on floor.

Her lips always uttered "Shiva"

In the run up to woman's day, following the clarion call given by Hon PM Shri @narendramodi ji for women empowerment, I want to highlight a few women from my constituency who have inspired many people, including me to become better human beings.
While there are innumerable such women, I am sharing short anecdote for some of these women who work hard to transform the world around us.
Dr. Snehlata Deshmukh has been VC of Mumbai Univ & Dean of Sion hospital. Apart from her big contribution to education, she has been an eminent paediatric surgeon & one of the founders of neo-natal department of KEM Hospital. Her positivity is infectious.

#Story of my journey from #Housewife to #SareeDraper
I started my career as a fashion stylist for ad-shoots. After I got married wore saree on regular basis as I love wearing saree and I respect the attire brought down by my grandmothers and mothers.
I took #career break because of random #shoot timings, got busy with my family and kids. I was a housewife and used to get many compliments for the way I wore #sarees .
I used to help people #drape saree and so they started recommending me to others, this is how I realized To change this passion into profession. Saree is classic Indian attire and has perennial and eminent history and I want to popularize the art of perfect saree draping.
