First, #USPS refused to release Postmaster General Louis #DeJoy’s calendars.

Then, USPS gave us calendars that were almost entirely redacted.

Last week, a federal judge ruled that USPS failed to “meet its burden” under #FOIA for its excessive redactions.

In summer 2020, USPS rejected our #FOIA for DeJoy’s calendar, saying the “calendar maintained on a USPS computer” was for DeJoy's personal use and the entries ”are not agency records subject to the FOIA.”

So, we appealed.

After we sued for these records, USPS agreed to release DeJoy’s calendars. But the documents were almost entirely redacted. USPS didn't specify which specific exemptions applied to the individual redactions.

Since everyone is talking about the crisis at the @usps and the Trumper creep #DeJoy, the Postmaster General. These are mail sorting machines at the main Cleveland postal facility last August.

DeJoy ordered them torn out and they were left to rot in the parking lot.

Not removed and reused at another facility. TORN THE FUCK OUT, and purposely left outside to get rained on and ruined so they could NEVER be used again.

And no effort was made to mask what they were doing! You could see (and photograph) these things from the street!

When called on this, DeJoy insisted they were torn out "months" ago. Postal workers revealed it was just days.

New: We obtained 9 pages of decision memos signed by Postmaster General #DeJoy from the beginning of his tenure through August 4.

The memos are about a transition in the COVID Response Command Team, endorsing the USPS Executive Cyber Risk Committee, and delegating authority on varying issues.

Today, @RepKatiePorter and I wrote to John Barger of the Postal Service Board of Governors with concerns that Barger may have coordinated with political entities when recommending Louis #DeJoy for the role of Postmaster General.

Louis #DeJoy was not recommended as a candidate for Postmaster General by the firm contracted to make such recommendations and didn’t undergo a background investigation as urged by the Former Inspector General of the #USPS.

Rather #DeJoy was introduced by Mr. Barger to the selection committee without the firm’s consultation. Given Barger’s extensive record of making financial contributions to GOP officials we are concerned Barger’s recommendation of DeJoy may have been politically motivated.
