1/20 South American Copper 🧵1: Traditional stomping grounds of Chile and Peru appear increasingly difficult jurisdictions for big copper mines. Grades are declining and the PolRisk arising from fiscal uncertainty in both Chile and Peru are problematic. #mintwit #copper #PolRisk
2/20 I don't think searching for copper equity opportunities in the region makes sense at the current prices we see. You might be paying up for quality in a few cases ($FIL comes to mind) but I expect the next few years to be difficult ones for Chile and Peru.
3/20 PolRisk situation makes starting a project (brown or green field) hard and the projects that exist are too big for juniors on their own,, that mix creates limited equity opportunities. The following are some points to support that assertion.

Copper industry may deliver 1.5 million tons from greenfield capacity in the period 2025-30, with +50% of the potential identified supply likely to hit the market after 2030. This is not on time for a green transition.
We think there is greenfield copper projects with more than 285 million tons of resources, with the ability to produce more than 6 million tons a year in some stage of development. Bloomberg and GS research supports similar type numbers.
About 30% of projects are either being ramped up or are in the late stages of construction, and could deliver 1.9 million tons of copper annually by 2025. Beyond 2025 S/D balance probably requires ~500,000 tons of new capacity each year, by our calculations.

1/ Snowline Gold $SGD $SGD.V a short thread. I spent sometime this Labour day weekend going through SGD's Valley deposit & attempting to understand what the potential may be. I didn’t consider Gracie or any of their other prospects. Just Valley. #Mintwit #Gold #Exploration
2/ Full Disclaimer: I am a shareholder & have been since the fall of 2021. I recently bought more shares in the high $2’s & as high as $3.50. If I hadn’t been a shareholder previously I would be now. I truly believe SGD is on to something Tier 1.
3/ I hope these posts open your eyes to the potential I see and if not at least open the floor to constructive discussion. I really enjoy doing this type of work and would love to do it full time (If you know anybody let me know!)

//THREAD// Can’t wrap your head around news statements like this? Me neither, all those numbers that read like code language. On top of this when I think something is a good drill result the stock won’t move or would even lose some percent. (1/27)
So that’s why I learned myself how to read those that come out on @JrMiningNetwork. In this thread, I will explain how I read these statements and the main things I look for. Let’s start. (2/27)
First I look at what kind of drill program it is. There are two types of drill programs. Infill drilling and step-out drilling. In Infill drilling the company drills in an area that’s already been drilled in. (3/27)

Commodity cycle start or end?

Note: I am not commodity analyst, but exploration geo at the bottom of the commodity chain for metals/hydrocarbons.

Sharing some stats in the 🧵

2/x
Reading macro analysts, following arguments emerge.

Current commodity run is:
- supply chain related only
- speculation fueled
- long term secular shortage in commodities
- caused by geopolitics, sanctions etc.
- going to end soon
- going to last a decade
3/x
I am personally watching for short term pull back, but support long term commodity price increase trend from supply shortage perspective.

Uncertainties: china, wars, geopolitics.

Below is some data supporting long term commodity bull.

1- Options & Earnings - A new thread!

Every option rises in price in anticipation of earnings. This is related to the increase of anticipated volatility (yo vega, she's back).

#fintwit #mintwit $option $AG #option #optiontrades
2 - But why?

Actually it's simple: earnings are a casino event for the stonk. Nobody knows what will happen, will the stonk crash or rise? Earnings are thus binary, it's a yay or a nay (UK ref. for you @BuyingMyFreedom). Movements post earnings are stronger as well.
3 - Here comes Mr. Market Maker. Mr. MM knows this, and they want more money for these call/put options, since they have to secure themselves against more risk.

Makes sense, in classic markets, I sold options on my underlying stonk for premium (#coveredcall).

(1) So let me try to write something down on #options, more specifically #LEAPs (Long-term options).

Options?

Options give you the 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 to buy (call) or sell (put) an underlying asset (= stock/ETF) at a fixed price (= strike price) up to a spec. date (= exp. date).
(2) Premium.

Ofc. options aren't free. You'll have to pay a premium for this right. Important to keep in mind is the multiplier, which often equals to 100 (every option covers 100 of the underlying shares).

𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 = 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘂𝗺 * 𝟭𝟬𝟬 (+ 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀)
(3) Pricing
Options pricing is determined by the four greeks (separate thread in the future). Important to take into account is that options will be more expensive if:
1. Your expiration date if further out (#theta).
2. The closer the strike price lies near the asset (#delta)
