Whether we want to admit it or not, bigotry sells very well in America. Roseanne’s show is being cancelled for the exact same reason it was rebooted during the Trump era. She, like Trump, gives voice to vitriol, and there’s a captive Republican audience that can’t wait to buy it.
They don’t really give a fuck about what happens to “Hollywood elite” Roseanne Barr, they will ultimately be most insulted and outraged by the resounding denunciation of their shared worldview. Their hate speech is a privilege they believe to be a right.

Conveniently missing from most (if not all) of the MSM’s hot takes on the Roseanne reboot’s crash and burn is the fact that they’ve spent the last DECADE stoking and exalting the politics of White rage and resentment, thereby furnishing supply/demand for bigot archetypes on TV.
I’m referencing Archie Bunker here because you literally have to go that far back to get to a highly rated prime time network TV show whose main character has the overtly bigoted mindset of a Trump voter. This is how far back we’ve traveled sociologically.
I’m 36 but I can distinctly think back to the 1980s-2008 and marvel at how much MORE racist America is now compared to then.

They manufactured and sensationalized the racist as fuck Tea Party and Birtherism, then ran a White supremacist buffoon for POTUS and peppered the airwaves with in depth interviews of White working class bigots who had fake economic anxiety for 2 years straight.
It’s been the same shit since 1/20/17 too, the American MSM has inundated the public with profiles of the disgruntled, “lovable bigot” Trump voter in an attempt to humanize and sugarcoat people who still support this inhumane disaster and international EMBARRASSMENT.
To be more precise, the most callous and sinister aspect of the ‘Roseanne’ reboot is the fact that it *intentionally* cast a radicalized right wing Roseanne, in both reality AND fiction. It depicted and simultaneously affirmed the escalation of White working class bigotry & rage.
Truth be told, I grew up on the original Roseanne. My mom loved her character, as a Black woman she identified with the every day struggles of a spunky, hard working woman who wasn’t born into privilege or status.
