Next year, it'll be 10 years since I started my website (fatnutritionist.com) and started writing my blog The Fat Nutritionist. At the time, I was a nutrition student and worked as a clinical diet tech (which is too boring to explain fully, but I loved it.)
There had been a whole generation (or two) of dietitians before me who did non-diet or HAES nutrition, but their work mostly wasn't promoted online or done via videoconferencing. There were a handful of nutritionists working online, but I was one of very, very few a decade ago.
In the past 10 years, and especially in the last couple of years, it seems like the non-diet RD thing has exploded into awareness, inside my field and outside of it. Meanwhile, as a fat person working in nutrition, I was terrified of my coworkers knowing what I really thought.

My company was raided. It should have been a straightforward matter. But the #MetPolice & #LBRUT forgot to seize my computer & came back to do a 2nd raid. The search warrant didn't permit a second entry, however, #LBRUT entered unlawfully

Complaints were then made to my MP #VinceCable. He liaised with the #Metpolice & #LBRUT. And then weeks later, the search warrant was completely changed & was passed off as the search warrant executed on the day of the raids.

Demonstrators are occupying the entrance to CoreCivic, a Nashville-based private prison operator that contracts with ICE. They've shut down multiple entrances, set up tents & replaced CCA/Tennessee flag with "No borders." Employees are just starting to arrive.
They say they're staying out here until CoreCivic is abolished. Demonstrators told me they're prepared to remain out here for days. They also have a trampoline out here. They've been out here for about an hour and cops are just now arriving.
"We have no intention of leaving," said the Rev. Jeannie Alexander. "It's a nonviolent, peaceful resistance." Look closely and you'll see a person dangling and taking photos from a very tall tripod if they made. That person is up there to stay, Jeannie said.
