Within moments of sharing this my feed is full of men telling me how much they disliked Rose as a character. Cool, you are entitled to that opinion BUT YOU DO NOT GET TO HARASS AND ABUSE SOMEONE BECAUSE OF IT.
What're we collectively doing to end online harassment? If you want to see change then how are you building respectful norms in your communities? Are you calling out toxic behaviour? What pressure are you putting on social media companies to create safer platforms?
Our experiences as marginalized folks online is constantly navigating a mindfield of hate, every-fucking-day. I barely look at my mentions anymore because it's exhausting (at best). BUT THIS ISN'T JUST THE WAY IT HAS TO BE. We can make real change... but we have to do the work.
