Having read through @Ayourb's TL of what the @nassnigeria arrived at during their close-door session earlier today, and also what appears to be a response from a group, of which @AbdulAbmJ is member, I can't help but wonder the sort of people we have in @nassnigeria...
A deadly bank robbery occurred in Offa, Kwara State on Thursday, April 5th, 2018. It was so gruesome that the entire nation was in shock at the horror. We mourned, and then we all demanded that the @PoliceNG should leave no stone unturned in fishing out the perpetrators...
Some of you may have forgotten, but @bukolasaraki also charged the I.G of @PoliceNG to ensure that the robbers were arrested. He posted about this on his Facebook page a day after the robbery incident, and on the following day after visiting the Olofa of Offa...
.@bukolasaraki's charge to the I.G of @PoliceNG was carried by newspapers, as you can see in this report by @vanguardngrnews:

"Offa attackers must be arrested – Saraki"

He didn't stop there. @bukolasaraki also called for an improvement of the security infrastructure, following the deadly robbery incident.

We should note that despite his personal calls on the I.G of @PoliceNG, the @bukolasaraki-led @NGRSenate instituted a probe on the incident.

The Green Chamber, @HouseNGR, were not left out in mandating the I.G of @PoliceNG to bring the culprits to book...

While the Governor of Kwara State offered a bounty on any information that would lead to the arrest of the heartless robbers...

One can say that, following all this, and of course, based on their original responsibility, the @PoliceNG set to work, identified the robbers, declared them wanted, and eventually apprehended them. The entire nation applauded that feat.
Based on, maybe, interrogations or whatever, the suspects name-dropped Governor Ahmed of Kwara State and @bukolasaraki as their patrons.

Now I'm thinking, these guys might have called these names as their get-out-of-jail-free-card.
I do not believe they said either @bukolasaraki or Governor Ahmed sent them to carry out that operation. I want to believe it was more of "we are their boys oh" kinda thing.

This led to the @PoliceNG summoning both Saraki and Governor Ahmed.
Maybe the @PoliceNG acted in haste with their summons. Just maybe. Considering the nature of the investigation, and the caliber of persons the suspects mentioned.
So while Governor Ahmed has already toed the "I empower youths with cash and vehicles, but I can't be held responsible for what they do with it" line, the @PoliceNG had a rethink and requested that @bukolasaraki responds in writing.
One would expect that for one who truly wanted the culprits to be apprehended and justice served, and also one who has nothing to be skittish about, @bukolasaraki would respond to the @PoliceNG's request, starting with a commendation of course.
Rather, what we are witnessing is something I can't comprehend. First, it was alleged that the DSS detail for both the SP and Speaker were withdrawn. This panned out to be false. Secondly, the nPDP, of which @bukolasaraki is a member, pulled out of a scheduled meeting with the VP
Thirdly, there was a protest in support of the SP in Offa, which was quickly followed by a counter-protest against him. Then the closed door session of both chambers that came up with the resolution that @MBuhari is expected to abide by, or else...
C'mon guys! What exactly is going on in @nassnigeria? How did we end up with a bunch of people whose interest is entirely selfish, even if it leads to a major breakdown of law and order in the country?
Was it expected of the @PoliceNG to let the suspects go the moment they mentioned Saraki and the Governor's names? After all the horror they meted out on that fateful day, and the charge on the @PoliceNG to fish them out, is this what it has come down to?
To think that some people are talking about the Executive Arm defiling the sanctity of some institutions, with respect to @nassnigeria. So I ask, has @PoliceNG stopped being an institution too? Abi @nassnigeria has the right to defile its sanctity?
And they went ahead to pass a vote of no confidence on the I.G of @PoliceNG. This is looking like a lame joke. Inasmuch as @PoliceNG has some shortcomings, with particular reference to SARS brutality, they deserve commendation for a whole lot...
From the apprehension of Evans the kidnapper, to the apprehension of different gangs of armed robbers across the country, including that of KD-Abj highway, the apprehension of the killers of the Rev. Fathers in Benue and the Offa Robbers.
One can't just wake up and say s/he is passing a vote of no confidence on @PoliceNG. The same body that its men are in your convoy keeping you safe? Let's be serious, please.
I don't know what Saraki's end game might be, but I do think that it would be best if he and his friends in the NASS learn to leave the Assembly out of their personal issues. The 48hrs given for his response to @PoliceNG will soon be up. He should comply. Shikena!
