5pm: Theresa May seeks to patch up relations with business at The Times CEO summit

Greg Clark urges colleagues to put "evidence first before ideology"

And the business secretary hints single market in goods not enough...

Greg Clark to The Times CEO summit:

“What [business] don’t want is a running debate... Business looks with dismay where there is disagreement. That does not inspire confidence. My approach is to be very engaged with businesses,”
Greg Clark rebuke to brexiteers:

“The business voice puts evidence first before ideology. Brings actual experience of trading whether with Europe or the rest of the world not a theoretical view of what the world will be like,” he said.
Clark hints he wants single market on services as well as goods:

“It must apply to services as well as goods. We need a labour mobility framework which allows UK business and self-employed professionals to provide services across the EU to clients in person.”
This - for context - is how David Davis talked about labour mobility last year.
