Sometimes I wonder how Twitter would be different if you were required to write 3 paragraphs instead of a couple sentences. Remember the “Nets” in Ender’s Game? Major public policy discussions were occurring “in public” with open participation.
Clearly it wasn’t perfect... (there was a lot of war in Ender’s Game) but imagine the ability to have real, in-depth, and interesting public conversations. A place like that might inspire the next generation of leaders...
But it might need more than 280 characters and moderation features would be extremely important.
Tweet storming built into the Twitter app helps a lot but the UI around consuming multi-person conversations and the fragmentation of conversations makes it hard to have a real discussion.
