If you thought that going to DMV today was a good idea cause everyone else is out of town, I can assure you that they are all with me getting their Real Ids as well.
They are playing the Pina Colada song and I'm alternating between crying and singing along.
Now it's james taylor "I've seen fire" and I'm definitely losing it. I thought I was gaming the system.

After 9/11, federal gov. reformed dramatically including creating @DHSgov. Lots of errors in that process, but a guiding principal is that DHS would manage the complicated interagency and intergovernmental (local, state, tribal, territorial) in a crisis. HSPD-5 was born. 2/

Some history on our homeland security, borders and threats because this below is important point. Border closings have occurred in past. But even Pres Bush in the weeks after the real threat of 9/11 knew the impact of border closures. 1/
This story takes place in the Oval Office in early October 2001. Airports are open but the backlog at land border crossings with Mexico and Canada are extreme, impacting commerce particularly. Produce going bad. Auto parts delayed. All countries harmed. Etc etc. 2/
Bush calls Tom Ridge into his office. Ridge had just resigned as Gov of Pennsylvania and was the first homeland security advisor. There is no DHS at this time. Remember 3000 Americans are dead from attack by foreign terrorists. . 3/

Given everything that is flying around with respect to the accusations being leveled at Brett Kavanaugh, I want to take a few moments to point out some things that people might not like.

And not liking these observations has nothing to do with politics.

It's about being human.
Human consciousness, identity, ego and the mechanics of memory all intertwine in ways that are not fully understood by anyone... but there are some things that have been learned along the way.

And they're not pretty. They're hard to hear, and harder to accept, but they're true.
One of the hardest ideas to really and fully internalize is the notion that your memory is not what you think it is. It turns out that, what we think of as a "memory", is almost always a reconstruction of what we think 'must have happened'.

It's a story that our brain tells us.

It's Monday, so I'm going full Monday. I'm at the DMV. And the line is outside, just to take a number.
There are 25 of us standing *outside* just waiting to go in and take a number at the DMV office on South Miami Blvd in Durham.
A woman came outside and those of us in line at the DMV have questions. She got here at 7:15 a.m., and the line was outside then for a 8 a.m. opening. It took 2 hrs, 45 min to get her driver's license.

One afternoon I got a DM from a white guy who said he likes what I do & I said "thanks", he asked where I was & I said Lagos.

I declined the call and went back to what I was doing, this guy called again!

I finally picked and the first thing I saw was this guy with my ex girlfriend Lizzy, they were kissing each and laughing at me on video.

"Hello Uche!!" They screamed like 2 fools on live television, I didn't understand what was going on so I asked.
