now that I understand more about how autistic people think (because I am one) I'm tempted to tweet more about that, but I kind of can't?

because I'd need to be able to compare it with how allistic people think, and I don't actually know what that's like (because I'm not one)
instead of making a point I'm going to ask a question. neurotypicals: does this thread make any damn sense to you? because I'm finding it to be delightful and insightful

(Cyrus has consented to being used as an example)
but to make what point I can right now, I've developed this newfound ability to sometimes locate brains that function similarly to mine based on the communication styles they use, and it's pretty dang neat
which veers dangerously close to seeming to claim that I can diagnose people just based on their tweets. I'm not saying that. it's just a vague guide, but a useful one
to talk more about the thread I linked: it *doesn't* make immediate perfect sense to me, it's not what I'd call easy to follow, but there's a clear sense that everything being said fits together, that I'm glimpsing parts of a cohesive whole
to listen to another autistic person speak is, for me, to reconstruct the model they've created in my own head. and then I can build on it myself, and perhaps continue a collaborative construction, passing notes back and forth
how to compare this to an allistic mind? again, I don't know how they work

maybe they do the same thing, but (subjectively) I find I can't trust the workmanship of their models. pieces slough off. there's no guarantee of solid ground
trying to avoid hints of elitism. I don't think my brain is better; there are tradeoffs, clearly. it's just that brains like mine are better for me to communicate with, and I'm grateful to have more of them around lately
also! there's this really exciting thing where once you've established some common understanding you can shift into a higher-bandwidth conversation protocol by abandoning the need to talk "normal"

I've only had a taste of this, I don't yet know how far it can be pushed
