Proponents of VA like to group it with DOD to sugfests they’re the same healthcare option. They aren’t.
I’d begin widening Tricare nationally and DOD regionally. Pre-9/11 vets would continue at VA clinics who meet a standard of efficiency or on DOD facilities when/where they’re convenient or tricare. Post-9/11 would move to a revamped Tricare using money saved from VA and Medicare
I DO NOT have the numbers. I can’t tell you that the offset is the answer. But I’d love to explore this options. Tax payers pay for my health care 4 times over: Tricare, Medicare, DOD and the mammoth VA. Consolidating that to one option (Tricare) makes a lot of sense to me.
