A reminder that gender is a complex, multidimensional context. Gender consists of:
* Gendered Behaviour (stereotypes - subjective and culturally varying)
* Gender Presentation (dress, accessories)
* Gender Identity (personal and unique to the individual - has sub-axes

Gender identity can be classified by:
* Consistency of gender identity (gender fluidity vs fixed ID)
* Strength of gender identity (a-gender to gendered)
* Position on masc/femme continuum (it's not a binary)
And NONE of this has anything to do with sex or sexual attraction.

So the next time you see someone bleating about erasure of lesbians, women, claiming male privilege, etc... Ask yourself this. Does the model being proposed by the people saying these things address these classifiers at all? Or is it just misandrist BS being pushed by dogmatists?
I'm no men's rights activist, but I have little patience for people who make every pronouncement through the fixed focal-length microscope lens of masculine power dynamics. When "feminists" do that, they disempower women. They are tacitly supporting the patriarchy.
True feminism looks at means to offer autonomy, self-determination and equality to women - no matter their origins. And modern feminism says that the battle to liberate women means also fighting the other intersections that create disadvantage for women.
So true feminism is pro-people of colour, pro-ethic, pro-religious freedom, pro-disability, pro-indigineity, pro-income equality, pro-rural access to social resources, pro-sex worker, pro-body difference, pro-sexual identity, pro-transgender/enby identity and pro-democracy.
Why? Because these are all mechanisms which when combined with being a woman, impose structural, social, economic, systemic, legal and/or safety risks and disadvantages. Because of that, this list is pretty much a "shit or get off the pot" challenge.
Along with other reasons to do with their association with the religious right (see @CaseyExplosion's recent thread on that topic), that is why "Trans-exclusive radical feminists" fail the test as to whether they get to claim to be feminists. They. Are. Not. Feminists.
