I see it everywhere I go, people trying to befriend and have their boss likes them.
This is a very shitty Office Politics strategy!
Why would people do that?
-If boss likes me, he won't fire me
-Won't give me shit
-More chances for promotion/raise
By licking his boots, kissing his ass and being a good worker (read:servant)
The boss might trick you into thinking he likes you and become friendly with you.
DO NOT MISTAKE FRIENDLINESS FOR FRIENDSHIP!
Your boss knows this. He's fooling you
Your boss would LOVE you to think you are friends, and might do some "nice (small) gestures to you from time to time. To get you going with the" friendship lie "
Because when you are a friend you :
-More trustworthy and loyal
-Will put up with shit
-Will invest and give more than you have to
-Less likely to screw the company
-More obedient and "happy to comply"
-Will do personal favors
In the dark world, caring is weakness and you let your opponent wield power over you.
@IvanThrone knows what I'm talking about.
Look how much you lose compared to the nothing you gain!
Is that so?
I challenge you to test that.
Next time your boss asks you to put up with shit or asks for a big work unrelated favor - Say No.
See how much "he likes you" if you don't comply.
Then know that you aren't "friends".
A friend wouldn't get mad and fire you for declining to do him a favor.
You are friends until one day it doesn't work out, and he tells you "were outsourcing your job, goodbye"
