Last year at the @defcon @VotingVillageDC in Vegas, hackers were able to hack 25+ voting machines currently used within 90 minutes.

One EVM had voter rolls with voter info from TN still on it.

43 states used EVMs in the 2016 that were over decade old.
Russia is actively hacking the 2018 midterm elections.

Trump/GOP regime have done nothing until the senate passed this nonsense today.
Non-binding means they agreed with each other.

Reality: this doesn’t call for any action to safeguard our elections.

Illinois ratified the ERA in June, leaving just One state needed to change constitutional hurdles to ratification.

The 14th & 19th aren’t enough.

The ERA ensures equal rights regardless of gender, was passed in 1974 - 44 years ago. Why is this still even a thing?

In July, Trump signed an EO to end the competitive selection process for judges. This makes them political appointees who he can fire at will
In order to rush his judge noms thru, Trump is bypassing judicial ratings processes by ABA before making his noms. His predecessors went thru the screening process 1st & nixed judges not qualified by ABA

Only 2 judges from 1989—2016 were rated not qualified compared to Trump’s 6

I have many Opinions on this, as a mostly-backend software developer who spent the last decade doing increasing amounts of JavaScript, and then the last year firmly in the land of CSS.

My first opinion: Amber is completely right.

I used to be one of those people.
However, I get why the CSS cascade is hard. And it starts with the fact that the cascade is structurally equivalent to inheritance.

Even in backend code, inheritance is a tricky technique to use well, & overuse leads to badly-partitioned code and/or shittons of conditionals.
But there are crucial differences, as well, between the cascade and inheritance, that make it hard to directly apply to CSS the techniques we use in backend code to manage the difficulties of inheritance.

2/ Touchscreen voting machines—both w/ & w/o so-called Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATS)—are a disaster bc, among other reasons, voters lack X-ray vision and thus can’t know if the vote as recorded inside the machine matches the VVPAT and their intended selections.
3/ With touchscreen voting machines, regardless of a VVPAT, the only thing actually counted as your vote is whatever is recorded as your vote INSIDE the machine, which you can’t actually verify due to your lack of x-Ray vision.

In crucial confidence vote to decide fate of MMS govt in Sept 08 whole nation witnessed on live TV how as many as 54 elected members of parliament failed to register their votes electronically. Utter chaos & confusion prevailed & finally these MPs were allowed to vote manually.
If India's 543 lawmakers themselves have difficulty in voting on electronic system installed in parliament isn't it nonsensical to ask if India's 714 million electorate – many of whom can neither read nor write – have any difficulty voting on electronic voting machines #EVMs?

1. The TERRIBLE TRUTH is that neither you, nor I, nor any other voter knows what happened INSIDE the electronic voting machines, election management systems, and tabulators used to count our votes.
2. ALL voting machines can be hacked through the internet, even if the voting machine itself isn’t connected to it.
