Quite sure @COLRICHARDKEMP is wrong. For one, Brexit is not going to affect our relationship with ECtHR, which prohibits death penalty.

Which, for many, defeats purpose of Brexit as they only supported it because they though it was an easy way to weaken human rights protections.
But, more importantly, incumbent upon govt to loudly, immediately, explicitly declare such opinions wrong. Govt has repeatedly promised Brexit will not weaken our human rights protections. Now is the time to prove that. Just confirm UK policy on death penalty etc will not change.

Although, we shouldn't really be shocked.

Court of Appeal rules @ukhomeoffice acted "unlawfully and unfairly" when deciding claims by child refugees in Calais. Court also held the Govt misled the High Court by a "serious breach of the duty of candour and co-operation by the Secretary of State".

Shameful behaviour by the Government - firstly, mistreating refugee minors & then misleading the High Court about how it had behaved and why.
So @ukhomeoffice admitted it refused to give the refugee children reasons why their claims were refused just so they could not take legal action against the Home Office.

As the court says, that is exactly why reasons must be given - so legal action can be taken, where needed!

In today's @DailyMailUK. @IpsoNews rules that the front page article with the headline "Another Human Rights Fiasco" had "serious and significant" errors. It was inaccurate and breached the Editor's Code. Mail forced to publish this ruling, with a reference on today's front page.
"The breach was serious and led to publication of seriously misleading information on an important subject. The misleading information was in a prominent position both in the article and in newspaper as a whole, and it substantially changed the meaning of the article": @IpsoNews
So @DailyMailUK's front page included the claim that he was an insurgent caught with a bomb. But didn't then say that a judge found that this allegation was "pure fiction". @IpsoNews found "the repetition of these serious allegations ... seriously misrepresented the judgment".

SO. #Brexit boils down to how - or if - the UK can ever leave the dreaded Irish backstop.

There is talk of a "review mechanism". So what might that be? How might it work?

Let's start from the point of agreement.

Both sides say backstop is
a) necessary
b) temporary
c) should be superseded by future relationship

So there does need to be what one EU source calls an "unwinding" mechanism. /2
The problem (before we get to the detail of that mechanism) is that no-one can see what version of the Future Relationship can deliver on UK commitment to no return to a hard border in Ireland.

May's dual tariff or 'MaxFac' unicorns are dead. /3

1. So the Norway option is back in the game. It's the one #Brexit approach that can work without a body blow to the economy. It's the only real way to avoid a cliff edge. Without it we will probably see an implosion of regulatory systems and this will simply stop working.
2. Typically any mention of the EEA sends the ultra Brexit loons into a tailspin. They have a crib sheet of counter arguments all of which are based on the most superficial analysis and do not stand up to scrutiny. So here is an unvarnished look at it...
3. Firstly we deal with the assertion we would be a rule take. Firstly, everybody is a rule taker - including the EU. Nobody makes all their own laws. Many based on international conventions and global standards. It is inevitable that we will adopt some EU rules.
