this is very much a thing I have to deal with. socializing in groups in noisy environments basically just doesn't work
ironically, I think one of the reasons my favorite hangout is a goth club is that the music's so loud that I can't hear any of the conversations around me, so one-on-one discussion is possible
and it's honestly a big part of the reason I want to learn ASL, though of course getting my friends to learn it too could prove somewhat difficult
