Cohen’s voice is clear, Trump’s voice is muffled at key sections. It sounds like Trump says “pay with cash,” Cohen says “no no no,” and Trump perhaps begins to say “check?” but the recording cuts off.
CNN puts up an alternative transcript from Trump’s legal team, in which Trump supposedly says “DON’T pay with cash...check” before Cohen says “no no no.” It’s mayyybe possible he said “don’t,” from the muffled recording, but the “check” in the Trump transcript is out of order.
