/ The Path to Meritocracy

As long as there are people that get influence through being rich, having degrees, owning domains, being born into an influential family, kissing up to the right people and getting influence on anything other than their own ability, we are not there.
/ Notice that all of those activities are essentially rent-seeking behaviors. Demanding some form of influence merely for being, not for doing. Why is this? How did rent-seeking become so prevalent? Why are there so many people intent on extracting money without adding anything?
/ Here's why. Fiat money. Easy money. When money can be printed, when money can be extracted from the rest of the population and given to the rent seekers, people naturally rent-seek. It's easier than actually adding value.
/ The last 100 years of political history is all about government spending their way into influence and more control over our lives. The reason people went along with it? Rent seekers.
/ Meritocracy is the natural state of society when there is hard money. All this talk about bias and the various -isms is really talk about who gets to rent seek more than whom. How about we get rid of all rent seeking with hard money instead?
/ When you have hard money, you have to add value to earn it. You have to provide something people actually find useful. This in turn makes people very literally creative. As in creating stuff that makes civilization richer.
/ Instead, we have entire classes of people that don't add anything but extract rent from everyone else. You have to give not only your money to them, but also your time, attention, energy and in many cases, reputation.
/ That is a sad state of affairs and the reason why hard money is so important. Bitcoin is hard money. Bitcoin fixes a lot of stuff without intending to, like most fundamental changes.
/ I predict that as bitcoin becomes a bigger part of society, that there will be more creativity, innovation, future orientation and civilization building than ever before. In other words, merit will be rewarded because hard money will exist. That's the path to meritocracy. /fin
