I don’t think this is a correct representation of the divide at all.

The reason to be against a lot the “token economy” is, for me at least, because it’s full of projects that add little new or exciting. Old models with a new (and non fitting) tech.
The fact that so many ICOs turned out (and will turn out) to be utter scams or money grabs is a testament to that. I wouldn’t be too cocky about that result, even *if* it contributed to the price rise.
Before anyone comes with a “No True Scotsman” here: there is nothing wrong with calling out projects or parts of our sector for misrepresenting aspects of tech or using technobabble to profit financially.
Anyone painting a rosy picture who knows better becomes complicit in bad business if they keep quiet.

Just because Bitcoin has better credentials and saying that does not allow others to cast “maximalists” with the tar brush.
Fact is: last year was both good and bad. We’re firmly on the map now.

We also got a LOT of creepy and shit people in who want to misuse the public’s lack of knowledge for their own gain.
Putting a spotlight on that and acknowledgung that a LOT of the money that went into the sector last year went in for all the wrong reasons and was raised in bad faith is, to me, necessary and good.
The “token economy” has to do a lot more to prove they offer something new.

Instead of looking outside to blame, I’d like to see them deliver.

That way, everyine benefits.
