That 2002 story includes the first mention in print of Alnylam.

More recently, I wrote about Monsanto's big idea for "spray-on GMOs". Basically, RNA interference sprays you could spray on a plant to kill bugs or alter it. technologyreview.com/s/540136/the-n…
Pretty clear now I overstated the chances for spray-on RNA in agriculture. But still a cool idea. Check out this jar of RNA!!
