(3) I find The Times Of Israel a fairly useful source because, while it does have liberal-MSM traits, it does not compromise on being factual when it comes to national security risks affecting Israel or Jewish people generally.

(5) It's a fascinating document to read (the 18 page FBI affidavit against Ghorbani, link above.) It's the only document released so far, out of many I assume have been filed.

(6) Gotta laugh at ABC calling it a "bizarre plot."

No, kids. It's a very (very) ordinary spy case involving bumbling rookie 59yo LA "restaurant worker" Majid GHORBANI & his only slightly smarter 38yo sidekick from Tehran, Ahmadreza Mohammadi-DOOSTDAR. No pix yet, but coming.

(7) I wouldn't even call it a plot, I'd call it an intelligence gathering operation, that didn't gather all the information the Iran regime wanted, while virtually standing outside an FBI office with a sign saying "I am an Iranian spy."

(8) Iran's many friends in Democrat Chicago have already found an attorney for DOOSTDAR, who is set to appear before a US District Court there in a few hours. Don't expect to see the defendant's face though. He'll be brought by prisoner transport van to sketch-only courtroom.

(9) The irony is palpable.

(10) I collect a lot of photos about US politics & I have several that illustrate things mentioned in the indictment. After giving you what I think are highlights from it, I'll do a search and present the photos, probably in a new thread that I will link at the end.

(11) This is just one of the Jewish community buildings that was targeted for terrorist attack-planning surveillance purposes, the Chabad House in Chicago. Seems to be in the same part of town as the house Obama bought "somehow." (We know how.)

(12) The affidavit is signed by an FBI agent who outlines his credentials at the start. There will be a number of other agents familiar with the case, & an enormous amount of information on file.

This explains why the alleged crimes are so serious:

DOOSTDAR: 38yo, US born but lived in Iran since 2yo. Dual citizen. Now lives in Tehran. Made several spying trips to Chicago & LA. The more senior of the two spies.

GHORBANI: 58yo, Iran born, migrated to LA as an adult.

(14) I can tell by things GHORBANI said and did that he is new to this game. The Iranian regime has become desperate.

I'm not familiar with Costa Mesa so I googled it. This part of Los Angeles is highlighted in red at bottom-right:

(16) These are facts relevant to the case, not political opinions. Every one of these facts is obvious and provable. The UN established the state of Israel in 1948. The Iranian regime & others in the region have always objected to the state of Israel.

(17) The rationale for the Iranian regime to spy on these centers is clear. This is the planning stage of state sponsored terrorism on US soil. Specific buildings, an ethnic group and, later, individual supporters of anti-regime groups are targeted for probable violent crime.

(19) More legal basis for catching these guys (+more) & locking them up for a long time. If convicted, & if his prison term ends before his death, Ghorbani's residency will be revoked, then deported back to Iran. Hopefully Iran will be like Japan by then: Peaceful & prosperous.

(21) OK, time for me to tell you the story of the adventures of Ahmadreza and Majid in America. Pull up a chair.

The key point here: The FBI or an allied country intel agency can find everything you ever did on your internet connection. The first unforced error by DOOSTDAR.

(22) Dual citizen tells CBP at the airport that he's visiting the US to attend events and to see the place where he was born. A good cover story, but you can only use it once.

(23) The FBI had people on the ground already following him and watching him. We are not told why, because for the purpose of this document, it doesn't matter.

The museum scene reads like something straight out of Get Smart or James Bond. A game of cat and mouse.

(24) I'm sure that when American spies do their work, they're a lot better at hiding it than this guy was.

(25) DOOSTDAR meets GHORBANI in Costa Mesa, Los Angeles.

(26) They talk for an hour, and probably not about the shopping and entertainment options in seaside Costa Mesa.

(27) Reading this made feel a bit sick, having followed news of MEK protests in the US around the time of New Year 2018, when protests in Iran went on for a few weeks and garnered attention in the US. These are real people, using their 1A rights, & being recorded & identified.

(28) A court-ordered physical search. That suggests to me that the FBI obtained the necessary warrants and worked with airport CBP to carry out the search, without anything leaking out of the agencies, & without DOOSTDAR suspecting enough to curtail his work. Great stuff, agents.

(29) Another pause before I pick this up again in several hours. It's bedtime here in NZ.

The 18 page affidavit is worth the read. Or you could come back for the rest of my highlights tomorrow.

This is better than any spy novel. Historic events, in the big picture.
