It's Friday ... time to relax, kick off the shoes and put on some music -

Because it's Friday ... well, the greatest Friday song in recorded history, ever and I'll not listen to counter arguments ...
For some reason, I can't play that Cure song without wandering into Martha and the Muffins - ... ok, that's me out for the night. Endless loud music beckons until the wee hours.

The most popular option every time - backed on average by just over a quarter - has been to leave without a deal at all - bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi… ... well, I'd prefer GE followed by Corbyn + Brexit (preferably WTO but EEA docked to EFTA is fine) but that's a bit specialised.
... what I do find amazing is that "no deal" still tops the options after years of continuous campaigning both online and offline to overturn the referendum against no effective opposition. That is fairly spectacular, almost unprecedented.
But as always, do remember these are polls and not reality. Lest we forget 23/Jun/16 ...
Populus had Remain 10% ahead
ComRes had Remain 6%+
YouGov had Remain 4%+
Ipsos Mori had Remain 4%+
... One of the few dissenting voices was Opinium, who produced that recent poll.

Me : I could but it wouldn't help you.

Me : Because you wouldn't know what to do with it. You really need to learn to map for yourself.
X : How do I do that?

X : How long will it take?
Me : To become really good at mapping, for it to become natural .. many years.
X : I don't have the time, how do I speed it up?
Me : Well, you could decide to actually start and use it i.e. practice. There is no shortcut for practice.

***Q1: What are the patterns of #gunviolence injury and death in the US? ***

A: 100 people die and 200 are injured each day across the US. Most deaths (~2/3) are suicide; these are mostly white middle-aged men from rural areas.
Approximately 30% are homicides: mostly young minority men from inner cities. The rest are accidental and mass shootings.

#DomesticViolence deaths from firearm injury are estimated at ~50/month.

And firearm injury is the 2nd leading cause of death for American youth.

1...#QCHistoryEngages On why I chose an MA in Library Science and History - My love of History was not sparked from a single visit to a museum, but rather continuous interactions with educational institutions.
2...My first memory of such a place was a visit to the @FloridaMuseum in Gainesville. The two exhibits I recall from the trip were displays on #bats and #dinosaurs, two things many 8 year olds enjoy. Still have the bat book from the trip.
3...My parents would always encourage visits to the #library as I had an interest for reading from a young age (not sure how they inspired that from the beginning - gladtheydid). This turned into an opportunity for me to discover new topics such as astronomy and other sciences.

I'm really lucky to have a continuing academic job at Sydney Uni. I have great colleagues, students are awesome, and I’m proud to be working with them on some terrific teaching and research initiatives. But there are some things driving me nuts at this place right now. Thread.
Staff in Student Services are required to ‘code’ every minute of their working day. If they’re on a call helping a student or staff member, they code the call, their response time is measured. If they take a toilet break, or make a personal call, they need to code that too.
To quote management advice: “Regardless of what service point you are on if you going to the bathroom, getting a quick snack or taking a little breather please ensure you have selected the break option.” Maybe there are plans to display staff rankings on a board somewhere…?
