@thesundaytimes Let’s start with the obvious: @thesundaytimes would not publish an article by just anyone calling someone in government a traitor, not even by any important influencer. But Banks, “you know, that’s just Banks” (add knowing chuckle)
@thesundaytimes We know that story. Boris Johnson. He wrote stuff that was factually wrong, he says things that are offensive, but, you know - good old Boris (add knowing chuckle)
@thesundaytimes I have been to a good many meetings where people said that “noone of importance” has ever said anything offensive towards the EU. I have read journalists writing that, unlike in other countries, UK ministers never say anything racist.

@thesundaytimes My friends, these people are important. Boris held one of the highest offices of state. Farage was head of a very influential party. Banks co-founder of an influential campaign group. Howard was leader of the Tories.
@thesundaytimes The former head of the FCO used racial slurs towards Africans and compared the EU to Hitler. The former head of the governing party rambled about war with Spain. And the head of one of the leading campaign groups called the PM a traitor in one of the leading newspapers.
