#Ethiopia: Federal Prosecutors have this afternoon pressed charges against Biniyam Tewolde (pic) former Information Network Security Agency (INSA) Deputy Director, his wife & two other individuals in six offenses including alleged corruption crimes, @Capitaleth reported.
Update: Biniyam Tewolde is charged with multiple counts of corruption involving himself & his wife Tsige Teklu. Co-defendants include Selamyhun Adefirs, educational training director, & Yirgalem Abraha, director of national cyber security force of INSA. fanabc.com/2018/08/%e1%8b…
The main charge accuses Biniam of conducting a 72 m birr worth contract with Avorniga Technologies Limited, an #Israeli company, & withdrawing 32.4 m birr by conspiring with the company for training services that didn't happen. He is also accused of illegal wealth accumulation.

Interesting: Prosecutors say Butina didn't think much of her relationship with the American they described in the indictment as Person 1. "She appears to treat that relationship as simply a necessary aspect of her activities."
DOJ says accused Russian agent Mariia Butina, who they said sought to set up a secret back channel between Moscow and the Republican party, "appears to have ties to Russian intelligence services," including several FSB officers.
