Assume @paulrey99 is right and the EU is being unreasonable on money and Irish border so that a withdrawal agreement is off the table. What do we do now?
As is now clear, even no dealers like Paul agree that we need some deals with the EU (aviation/Euratom/lorry transport/customs formalities) if unsustainable chaos and disruption is to be avoided.
Those deals take time and EU/EU27 agreement (and sometimes time consuming EU procedures vulnerable to bloody-mindedness: see Salvini). But our time runs out on 29/3/19. And the EU will still have money and Irish border demands.
You may resent the EU’s stance on what it wants in return for a withdrawal agreement. But what, actually, can we sensibly do about it if huge economic disruption is to be avoided, and when that disruption would hit us more than them?
I have heard no coherent answer to that question. And though Paul is good at explaining why he dislikes the EU, he doesn’t explain how his “do without a withdrawal agreement, and wait until we are out and the EU becomes reasonable” approach is a viable strategy.
What happens in the interim, in the days, weeks and months after 29/3/19? And what is the basis for supposing that the EU “becoming reasonable” is likely to happen before a U.K. collapse?/ends
