This is really important to acknowledge. Remember, McConnell basically ignored the rules for Merrick Garland and is now insisting that the rules be followed for Kavanaugh. They will ignore rules regardless of what Dems do.
In short: stop acting like Republicans will be good if only we’re a little nicer to them. They gave up completely on all pretense on rules and decency in Obama’s time.
I don’t want to trivialize abusive relationships, but GOP politics follows the logic of abuse. All responsibility for good/bad behavior is pushed to the Democrats. Any time the GOP acts badly, they will find an excuse as to why it’s the Democrats’ fault.
