I know this. We are doomed as a society if we abandon rigors of due processe for each and every person accused of a crime and replace it with the trope that classes of victims must be believed without evidence, no matter how sympatheic the victims or how heinous the crimes.
As for the appeal to "arguments at stake" let us never forget this. We were ennobled by not abandoning the due process even at Nuremberg trials.
I believe all serious sexual crimes are every bit as heinous as murder, but I will revolt against elevating even the victims of sexual crimes above the victims of the Holocaust.
Abandoning rigors of due process will not provide any reparations to the victims of historical bigotry and prejudice. It will only doom the hard won progress we have made over the centuries toward a more equitable and just society, by rewarding fraudulent claims by hucksters.
