The Senate is currently considering the nomination of Jeffrey Clark to be the Assistant AG in charge of DOJ’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, which enforces federal environmental laws and regulations. Mr. Clark is the wrong person for the job.
He called the science of climate change “contestable”, he represented BP in litigation over the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill, and he represented industry groups in challenging EPA greenhouse gas regulations.
The challenges our environment faces have never been greater. Mr. Clark, who the @SierraClub described as an “outspoken opponent of environmental and public health protection,” is the wrong man to lead this critical division of the Justice Department. I oppose his nomination.
