Time to give feedback on the Gender Recognition Act.

This is my personal response to Q3, on whether a medical diagnosis should be a requirement.
And for Question 6, on statutory declarations
Should there be spousal consent for legal recognition of transition? (Q7) I don't think so. There should be divorce law reform instead.
For Q13 - single and separate sex services
Q17, on the ability of people who do religious marriage to be discriminatory
Obviously, there are lots of other questions - it's taken me almost an hour to respond to the consultation. But I do hope more of you will do.

I've answered these in a personal capacity, but I will address this from a BLUF standpoint shortly.

We started 2018 with our first event #BLUFclub stand at Leather Pride in Belgium, which was great fun.

We also launched our first iPhone app, added a US gear store, and hosted almost 200 events in 30 cities - thanks to our volunteers around the world for that
We turned 21, and over 400 people joined the club this year.

And, of course, we had our legal problems in Berlin. I'm tremendously grateful to all who helped with that, both financially and giving me moral support
We raised a record amount this year - but a massive chunk of that has been spent on legal fees. We now own the right to our name, across the EU. Thanks also to our amazing lawyers in Munich

OK, so where does #BLUFclub stand on trans issues, and things like self-ID? Well, broadly speaking, since it's not a democracy, it stands more or less where I do, since I set policy. So, let's look more at that, shall we?
Firstly, the vast majority of applications to BLUF have always been done online, without an applicant having to be seen in person. Nor have we ever required proof of identification, still less of gender.
The requirement to join is that you are a man, and you meet the dresscode. The bulk of our members are gay, and it would be fair to call us a gay club. But we have straight members, and bi members too.

"#OrganDonation is an altruistic act that should be celebrated..." (p6)

So why not do that, and devote more resources to making donation easier - an approach that has delivered measurable results - instead of a regressive move to #OrganHarvesting?

Describing a *significantly narrowing* shortfall (cf. graph, also p6) in available organs is not a justification for a change to #OrganHarvesting; nor are emotive appeals. This reads like #PolicyBasedEvidenceMaking.
"We want... to change the culture around organ donation in this country in the longer term." (p7)

Stopping it being a gift, freely given, and instead the State 'deeming' you to have given permission will certainly change that! Presumption ain't 'donation' and will erode trust.
