So I have finally been dragged kicking and screaming into writing a China data heavy newsletter focused on strictly on the economy and financial markets. For many reasons I resisted quite sometime but finally got sucked in primarily because of the great person to do it with 1/n
I am posting an example of the type of stuff I will be doing in the newsletter which will have lots of charts and analysis everyday covering different aspects of the Chinese economy from macro to individual sectors baldingsworld.com/2018/10/22/the…
You can subscribe to the newsletter here which unfortunately will cost a flat $10 a month but I guarantee will have lots of detail and nuanced from my vast library of graphics on China that will give you a lot more nuance and detail and weave it all together. 3/n
Will also very much be taking requests so to speak. I spend enormous amounts of the day poring over Chinese data from who bought in the markets today to how does this match across data points that should match. I think there is a lot more rhyme and reason as well as 4/n
Patterns that help us match what is going on. I should note that while I am pessimistic about the Chinese economy, GDP is not falling off a cliff and yes leverage is still rising as a percentage of GDP and we can see this in the data even we account for potential "issues" 5/n
The basic format is roughly 4-5 times per week with this week being focused on recapping GDP data and how this matches what we see in underlying sectors like credit, industry, trade, and consumption. I think we can explain with the data why I say some of the things I say 6/n
Let me emphasize even though it is data focused, it is readable for educated audience that is interested in China with lots of graphs and then connecting them so they are left on an island so to speak. If you can read graphs, you will be able to understand what I'm saying 7/n
I should also note, that the payment provider says I should be able able accept WeChat and Alipay and the writing is intended to be straight forward and educational linking data points together so while I won't be writing in Chinese, it should translate well with 8/n
the Google Translate app we will be using. Part of what I have always tried to do is write in non-jargon ways because I think the data whether as a statistic or graphic is something most people can understand in general terms how it relates to something else. That's the goal 9/n
To simplifying and explain the Chinese economy for everyone. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
