This is going to be a long one. I want to tell you exactly why I’d vote for Trixie even if I hadn’t been married to her for the last 19 years! I've witnessed things that lead me to believe she could be the best trustee candidate our ward has ever seen. 1/14
Why vote Trixie for Trustee? 2/14
1) Leadership. More than once, I have seen Trixie join a dysfunctional organization; a year later, you realize they're running smoothly and achieving their mandate. A few more months, and the organization has chosen Trixie to be their leader. 3/14
She doesn’t work by arriving on the scene and single-handedly fixing everything. That is a fantasy; nobody can do that. She does it by finding other people of high energy and integrity, and empowering them all to achieve what they want, through hard work and collaboration. 4/14
She now chairs the board's parent council, PIAC: a committee of 45 members -- twice the size of the board itself! She runs their meetings, and is a member of all twelve of their working groups. She knows how to run a tight ship. 5/14
2) Ethics. I've watched Trixie do things that harmed her personally because she had made a commitment. I've seen her be the only "nay" vote against a motion, and a few months later, the motion is reversed because she was right, like something out of Twelve Angry Men. 6/14
She has declined several endorsements for her campaign in order to remain politically neutral, and to serve our ward’s students with no conflict of interest. 7/14
Her work ethic is also outstanding; if you don't believe me, try her. Ask her to get back to you on something, and watch her follow up. She has continued to chair PIAC even during her election campaign. She takes her commitments very seriously. 8/14
3) Expertise. Our home has bookshelves filled with comparative analyses of different education systems; histories of the education system in Ontario; minutes from school council and school board meetings from 15 years ago. 9/14
She has studied the ministry regulations, and the Board policies and procedures. She knows how the system works, and how it got that way, and how other systems work, and why they work, and why they don't. 10/14
4) Experience. Trixie has spent years engaging parents, helping them navigate the complex TDSB systems and get what they need for their children, and attending board and committee meetings so their voice is heard. These are the most important things trustees do. 11/14
I've met several of Trixie’s competitors, and I'm glad to say they seem to be genuinely good people, campaigning out of a good-faith desire to help children, rather than political aspirations. 12/14
The same is true of Trixie, but what sets her apart is the ample evidence that she also knows how to make complex organizations work. The candidates all seem to have good intentions; Trixie knows how to make those intentions become reality. 13/14
Those that have worked with Trixie know that she earns respect by being really, really good at what she does. Our ward could do no better than to give her this chance to prove herself. Vote @trixie4trustee! 14/14
