Since the local council elections 18 months ago in May 2017, the Conservative administration at Perth and Kinross Council have:

1 - Tried to pay one of their councillors for a job he wasn't doing.

2 - Gerrymandered two committees to load them in their favour.

3 - Made comments about 'putting them back in their box', regarding the SNP group.

4 - Lied outright about the growth of the Scottish economy.

And they're getting PAID to do it.

A lot of us are battling on two fronts up here - opposing Brexit, and supporting Scottish independence.

I do still care what happens in rUK because I have family living in England, but feel the only way Scotland will fulfil her potential is by voting for independence.

It's exhausting when you feel like whatever you vote for is an irrelevance. We voted to stay in the EU, and are being dragged out regardless.

We sent a majority of SNP MPs to Westminster, and they're being ignored.

Home Office policies have negatively impacted on families we've welcomed with open arms, and who contribute so much. So we requested immigration be devolved so we can do things differently - we get told 'no, it's a reserved matter' and compared to an English council area.

A story in honor of the #TexasSenateDebate:

My parents live in #EastTexas, in a district represented by one of the most conservative members of #Congress. However, my mom is one of the most liberal I know.
After 39 years of marriage, my dad finally let my mom put a bumper sticker on the back of his pickup truck (b/c #Texas) that said "I vote for Democrats." @TexasYDs @scyd_texas @texasdemocrats @BGTX @SmithDems
A few months ago, my dad had to take his truck into the shop. While it was there, one of the workers scratched D-E-M-O-C off the sticker so it read "I vote for rats." Understandably, my mom (who is 71 & under 5 ft, but raised 6 daughters & terrifying when need be) was angry.

The dysfunction of US #Yemen policy all rolled up into one staggering piece of journalism. Some key additional points for context:
1. The winning argument- that failure to certify endangers arms sales- is not only depraved, it's also leg affairs malpractice. Congress now doubts Sec Pompeo's good faith and any administration efforts to improve things in Yemen. That makes them MORE likely to block sales
2. Without naming names, some of the bureaus that advised against certification have consistently supported the US policy of mid-air refueling. That's as recently as a few months ago and throughout the Obama administration. HUGE shift.

A couple months ago, Speaker Ryan received a $24.6 million contribution for a dark money group from one donor. No one is asking what this anonymous donor got for that $24.6 million, or what they expect to get in the future.
Now we will never know. Spending by organizations that don’t disclose their donors went from about $5 million in 2004 to over $300 million by 2012. In two presidential cycles, the dark money spending in our federal elections increased 6,000 percent.

1 / Some quick thoughts on Ford voting to scrap Ontario's emissions trading scheme. Ford and the PCs are going to claim a mandate for this policy shift, and this will mute likely business protests (b/c canceling the scheme will destroy business assets but that's another story)..
2/ The key point: this mandate is illusory, and reminds us how hard solving the climate crisis is going to be. On one hand, a majority of Ontario voters supported parties that wanted to keep the carbon price. That's the first-past-the-post issue many people talk about.
3 / But there is also a deeper issue: elections don't give signals on the public's policy preferences. Three months ago, Brown was cruising to a majority promising a carbon price, then Ford cruised to one promising to cancel it. Did voters change their mind?
