I am on my way to vote.

To my US friends, I hope you will join me.

It is easy to feel that one vote won't matter. It is easy to think that elections don't change much, & day-to-day life will go on, not much changed.

There are some ppl who would love to have you believe that!

There are ppl who would like to have you stay home.

Don't do it. Get out and vote.

Not voting as a protest ("it only encourages them") is as good as a vote for the candidate you like least.

Tho it pains me to say it, voting for a small party candidate is as good as a vote for the candidate you like least.

What if you don't love any of the candidates? Well, get over it. No candidate is going to be perfect, or a perfect match w/ your views (unless you run!)

Vote for the one where you have the most overlap in your values.

Your vote will make a difference.

Especially in local races, candidates often win by a handful of votes.

Plus, there may be referendums that WILL impact your day-to-day life.

In my town, we are voting on school funding. If enough ppl sit it out, and only the riled up ones vote, our school district...

could LOSE a big chunk of funding. That matters for the kids in my city, and their futures.

So, find out who and what is on the ballot in your area.

If you feel like you don't know enough, League of Women Voters is a good place to starts. lwv.org

LWV is non-partisan. They do not support or oppose candidates. They seek to educate, inform, & help people have the knowledge & confidence to participate.

I know it is easy to feel angry, or overwhelmed, or hopeless in our current climate. I feel that sometimes.

But, I won't let that dissuade me from exercising my RIGHT as a citizen. I will use my vote, and my voice.
