Last year, UN Human Rights Council "Special Rapporteur" Philip Alston investigated America's failed social justice system, and now he's examining Britain. Meanwhile, the only UNHRC Special Rapporteurs who've reported on Cuba & Venezuela, praised their social justice systems.
They may point to real problems, but it's clear these UNHRC experts seek to impose their own far-left economic policies by declaring that these are obligations of international human rights law. But in real life, millions have fled the countries that they hold up as models.
Here's how the system works:
1. Tyrannies go along in creating UN mandates to attack the West.
2. Social justice groups critical of the West feed their reports to the UN monitors & invite them to visit.
3. Tyrannies & social justice warriors both win; world's worst victims lose.
So UN hunger expert Olivier de Schutter, himself a social justice warrior, investigated #Canada at request of his friends in social justice groups. They got an easy PR win. Yet no UNHRC hunger expert ever reported on #Venezuela's starving citizens. Sad. nationalpost.com/opinion/hillel…
"UN report bolster's Canada's right to food movement." While the social justice warriors whose policies fail at the ballot box got the UN to intervene & to hold debates on Canada, this came at the expense of truly starving people in Venezuela & elsewhere. foodsecurecanada.org/resources-news…
Now it's true that many tyrannies won't let UN monitors visit, so you get the distorted reality where, keen to do some country visits, they end up examining democracies & reporting on them. But nothing stops the experts from writing remote reports & interviewing exiles abroad.
The only UN Human Rights Council monitor to write on Venezuela, Alfred de Zayas, produced a complete whitewash of Maduro’s crimes. Yet not a single country spoke out when his shameless propaganda was legitimized. unwatch.org/un-rights-coun…
In 2017, UNHRC monitor Virginia Dandan visited #Cuba but not with any opposition members—because “I do not know what you mean by opposition. I honestly do not know who is in opposition.” Cuban dissidents called her “the expert who does not ask questions.” unwatch.org/cubas-propagan…
In 2007, Cuba hosted Jean Ziegler, whom the Castro regime had picked to be the UNHRC's monitor on hunger. It was an exercise in propaganda. Ziegler, 1989 co-founder & 2002 co-winner of the Qaddafi Human Rights Prize, showered the Castro regime with praise. unwatch.org/exposed-jean-z…
