UN Condemns Trump’s Zero Tolerance (Intolerance) Policies As “Torture” dailykos.com/story/2018/6/2…
/If the UN can establish that the separation of children from their parents is, in fact, torture, then under the Geneva Convention Torture is punishable by not more than 20 yrs in prison, and if anyone dies as the result, it can be punishable by death or life in prison.
/ By formally condemning Donald Trump today, the UN has laid the groundwork for such a case, and, as the ACLU filed a class action law suit with them in March against Trump for his actions, if we can get him into World Court, whether the US has pulled out of the HRC or not,
/ Trump personally can be tried for this and potentially convicted. If he is tried in World Court there will be no way for him to postpone it or get out of it. No matter WHAT he spins @ it, he won't control ANY of it. This is very, very serious stuff.
/ "the ICC (World Court) can prosecute crimes against humanity, which are serious violations committed as part of a large-scale attack against any civilian population. The 15 forms of crimes against humanity listed in the Rome Statute include offences such as murder, rape,
/"imprisonment, enforced disappearances, enslavement – particularly of women and children, sexual slavery, TORTURE, apartheid and deportation..As of 17 July 2018, a situation in which an act of aggression would appear to have occurred could be referred to the Court by the
/"Security Council, acting under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter..The ICC is intended to complement, not to replace, national criminal systems; it prosecutes cases only when States (countries) do not are unwilling or unable to do so genuinely..While not a United
/"Nations organization, the Court has a cooperation agreement with the UN. When a situation is not within the Court’s jurisdiction, the UN Security Council can refer the situation to the ICC granting it jurisdiction" The ICC is seated in The Hague (Netherlands).
/ If the UN Human Rights Council can establish a case for an act of aggression (in this case, torture) against Donald Trump, they will because they are mandated to do so. It's not going to help him that the US has (this wk) pulled out of the UN HRC. Again, this is very serious.
/ And it's important to note that the ICC (International Criminal Court aka World Court) is the International Judicial Body where the world's worst dictators have been tried & convicted: Former Liberian Pres. Charles Taylor, Former Ivory Coast Pres. Laurent Gbagbo,
/ Sudan Pres. Omar al-Bashir, Libya's Moammar Qaddafi, Former Iraqi Pres. Saddam Hussein, Augusto Pinochet of Chile, Serbian Leader Slobadan Milosevic and Idi Amin to name just a few. THIS is the company that Donald Trump may find himself in. Altho many of these guys later died
/What I've shared here is some rudimentary research that is going into an article that I'm writing. I am NOT an attorney & am waiting for legal verification from a member of the ICC, awa 2 lawyers. Dunno what the outcome for Trump will be, but this is what I found..we shall see
