1) #Brexit - who's to blame? These guys, no-one else

You cannot advertise unicorns, win a slim majority & expect to hold that majority when you deliver donkeys

Vote Leave won the vote & destroyed #Brexit at the same time - thread
2) Why is the end result of Brexit this ridiculous fudge? What went wrong? The answer is simple - it wasn't May, or the EU, or the establishment, or filthy Remainers - it was Gove, Johnson, Stuart & all the happy clappy Vote Leave/Leave.EU crowd who ensured it would fail.
3) it wasn't just the £350m on the Bus, it was the consistent Brexit hyping - Brexit would be easy, they needed us more than we needed them, we'd get full access to the SM whilst leaving it, we had a massive defecit, of course the EU would do a deal

Brexit wouldn't cost a penny
4) it's that simple - as such there was never a majority for any kind of meaningful #Brexitb *even between leave voters*, only for a fantasy one.

The Leave vote was horrendously split, and deeply mislead as shown in this large poll just after the ref
5) A "meaningful" Brexit, outside the SM & CU, may be a worthy goal but it would carry a high cost & a lot of disruption.

If Vote Leave had campaigned honestly & won on that basis, we'd now be doing it.

But they never would have won with that, so they sold the UK a fantasy
6) they've died off now but just over a year ago polls appeared saying "well a lot of people prioritize FoM, or not paying into the EU, or following the ECJ"

But these were choices made under the assumption that the UK could pick and choose, without consequences or cost
7) What Theresa May knew, what these guys knew after the referendum, was that the public would destroy any party who delivered a hard, meaningful, painful #Brexit, because they didn't expect it or vote for it - they voted for Unicorns
8) on twitter you'll come across numerous people who say "I'm ok with the cost of real Brexit, bring it on!"
but equally you'll come across people who'll say "of course a great deal is possible, it's May's fault for capitulating"

Often they're the same people
9) but that's it, there is no one else to blame but Vote Leave and its leaders. They could not win with a realistic, honest Brexit, so they sold a fantasy, and by winning a tiny majority they made it impossible for any government to implement cold, hard reality Brexit & survive
10) not enough, not nearly enough leave voters were prepared to pay for reality hard, meaningful #Brexit, and if Leave voters wouldn't then why should Remainers?

There is only one consistent, cohesive, realistic majority - Remain. The Leave vote has always been splintered
11) so leavers, put the blame where it lies - with these charlatans who both won & then lost Brexit by selling nonsense.

But also yourselves, because in the end nowhere near enough of you were prepared to pay for the reality of what you voted for
End/
Ps) in a panic & seeing the writing on the wall David Davis & others have switched from "exact same benefits"/"no downsides only upsides" to "No deal is better"
But it's too late, they can't take Leave Voters with them, it's easier to believe the 1st story of fantasy brexit
