I am sitting in a hall with easily 1000 young people attending the DevFest event in Uyo. This is impressive on so many different levels. At some point, I see these places becoming engineering hubs for Lagos based businesses.
The Ibom e-Libarary, with stable power and solid broadband will make for a great engineering hub. The facility is excellent. Let engineering happen in Uyo while business and sales happens in Lagos.
Some heroes truly don't wear capes, Hanson Johnson is one of those persons. Man has done great for technology and developer engagement in this city.

I think my dad finally understands what I do for a living. I think. It took 10 years, but I am glad we are here. I also used the opportunity to educate in on how card payment works. It finally made sense to him. Next up; my father in-law.
I think the clincher was explaining to him how I pay for airline tickets. This also reinforces the belief that complex concepts can be made simpler if you can relate it with everyday life.
I think it was also a learning opportunity for me as I struggled to come up with an analogy that made the most sense. It was an opportunity to explain how the PAN, CVV, PIN and OTP all come together to enable a successful transaction.

One thing about me that people will notice is that I'm very consistent. The same people condemning R.Kelly had no problem supporting misogynistic groups and their lyrics about assaulting girls or the artist who act out inappropriate behavior in real life.
I believe in protecting young people and allowing them to grow up uncorrupted by damaged adults. Young people should be allowed to maintain their innocence as long as possible. Many of you don't have that same energy.
Although we are on the same page regarding R.Kelly, many of you are going to contradict yourselves down the line because your values lack a solid moral framework because they are based on popular social movements and cult following. Be grounded and stop following trends.

Sitting in Houston. Flight currently delayed, but it allowed us to have a leisurely lunch at one of the MANY different Pappas family restaurants.

I can only assume the family opened restaurants by following a cartoon protagonist from town to town, opening shops ahead of them.
"Aren't you Mr. Pappas? From the Greek restaurant?"

"No! I am, uh, Senor Pappasito. Welcome to my, uh, cantina!"

NHS England and NHS Scotland have just published an important report on last year's consultation on proposed service specifications for specialist Gender Identity Services (with thanks to @mjt273 for the heads-up). engage.england.nhs.uk/survey/gender-…
First observation: it appears that around a quarter of responses were from an organised group of anti-trans campaigners (including both TERFs and members of the Christian Right). I am disturbed that they have put so much energy in trying to make trans healthcare harder to access.
This is a really important methodological issue for people attempting to research or consult on trans issues with open surveys. As trans people become more visible, so do those who hate us. They are actively working to disrupt our access to healthcare and public services.
