2/6. Trinity Mirror (now ‘Reach’) had already been forced to admit this: ‘. . . senior employees, including executives, editors and journalists, condoned, encouraged or actively turned a blind eye to the widespread culture of unlawful information-gathering activities . . .

4/6. A couple of footsoldiers have been charged and convicted, but not one of those senior employees who ‘condoned, encouraged or actively turned a blind eye’ to lawbreaking and then ‘actively sought to conceal’ it.
5/6. Nor has the company performed any public act of contrition or of house-cleaning. And nor has the rest of the industry – all those brave journalists who give each other so many awards and claim to speak truth to power – bothered investigating and exposing this.
