JUST IN: In an extraordinary move, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has publicly pushed back against President Trump's criticism of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals over its ruling on his asylum policy.
Trump called the 9th Circuit a “disgrace” and referred to the ruling as coming from “an Obama judge.”

But in a statement, Roberts rebuked Trump, saying "We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges."
"What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them," the statement continued. "That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”
Despite the fact that Trump railed against the 9th Circuit in his remarks, the ruling was actually handed down in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
