Yes! Thanks so much 4 this ?. It was actually the guitarist of a Dublin-based, punk outfit who turned me on2 this way of thinking about it N the 80's. Asked if he was a Christian, he said it was inappropriate to say so 1self b/c it's a public verdict instead of a self-description
He cited Acts 11:26 ("The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.") & said we have to leave it to others to pay us the compliment of noting that our behavior, speech, & way of treating people is in keeping with the teachings of Jesus. The proof is in the pudding.
I try to refer to myself as an aspiring Christian who'd love to be told that I operate as if Jesus was/is my Jedi Master. "Christian" is a wonderful adjective that can be rightly—and perhaps righteously—applied to all manner of behavior among all manner of human beings.

1/ Reality Winner receives her sentence today for an act of conscience she undertook on behalf of our public good. The fact that this decorated veteran's life appears 2 be beneath the interest of so many remains a puzzler 2 me, but I have a theory or 2 shadowproof.com/2018/08/21/rea…
2/ I think her one wild & precious life is lost in the constellation of competing interests/platforms/brands that controls the narrative(s) of the American barnyard. Imprisoned and denied the right to tell her story or hug her mother for over a year, she's been disappeared.
3/ Our risk aversion equals her crushed spirit. I wonder if her involvement in our gov't's drone program renders her a human being indefinitely consigned to dwell outside the sphere of what we're willing to know about ourselves. Not unlike soldier suicides. #PolicyIsLiturgy

1...#QCHistoryEngages On why I chose an MA in Library Science and History - My love of History was not sparked from a single visit to a museum, but rather continuous interactions with educational institutions.
2...My first memory of such a place was a visit to the @FloridaMuseum in Gainesville. The two exhibits I recall from the trip were displays on #bats and #dinosaurs, two things many 8 year olds enjoy. Still have the bat book from the trip.
3...My parents would always encourage visits to the #library as I had an interest for reading from a young age (not sure how they inspired that from the beginning - gladtheydid). This turned into an opportunity for me to discover new topics such as astronomy and other sciences.

Toronto police tell CBC's @natalie_kalata the van that struck a number of pedestrians at Yonge Street and Finch Avenue East has been found, and the driver has been arrested.
