The @HQNigerianArmy had updated earlier wrt the ongoing campaign at Melete and successes recorded. I beseech Nigerians to give reports like this deserving attention to boost the morale of Nigeria's gallant soldiers. Not many Nigerians are willing to join the military these days.
I'm not holding brief for @HQNigerianArmy or @AsoRock, but I'm compelled to present the info sourced from people in Borno, considering d barrage of fake news flying around. I can't confirm the facts of the attack at Metele, but report has it that the North-East is largely calm
Metele, where reports filtered in that insurgents overran 157 Battalion is located near Niger-Nigerian-Chad border in Kangarwa (See Map). The attack attributed to a Boko haram splinter group called ISWAP, happened earlier than now, specifically Nov 17, at about 1805hrs.
The attack was confirmed, but that d number of soldiers lost is less than half of what is bandied in d news. Geographical elements of d video in circulation doesnt match any where within d defense line of 157 Battalion where insurgents attacked soft targets and resting soldiers.
@HQNigerianArmy have substantial inland Borno secured except Niger-Chad Border fringes, covering over 385Km. Insurgents currently dont hold forts anywhere in Borno as preparations for d festive period continued unhindered in Maiduguri. Proofs indicating otherwise will be helpful.
@HQNigerianArmy havent denied losing soldiers. These men died on duty posts. There's nothing to be ashamed of stating it publicly, if not for loved ones they left behind. It defies norms to enumerate battle loses on blogs as expected. The Army isnt competing for breaking news.
Here are successes recorded by the @HQNigerianArmy recently that we didn't give heed to. Painting a picture that our soldiers are losing the battle is shameful and gross disservice to these dead heroes and their families.
@HQNigerianArmy havent had it this good in recent years in a newly structured Quartermasters for North-East Transport and Supply.
Morale is at record time high amongst the troops and top military hierarchy have continued to reinforce this by visiting battle fronts, especially Borno. Nigerians who have details to the contrary should please present them, if they truly love the nation.
Tension in Borno, as escalated online since yesterday is sheer political mischief. You may have seen chats people purportedly had with soldiers in the frontline flying around to give credence to the fake news triggered tension. Suddenly, everybody has brothers in the Army 😀
Real soldiers dont chat battle front details with civilians d way youth corp members complain about food quality at NYSC camp. Those who have imaginary cousins who enlisted in d Army, then chicken out should own their cousins. @HQNigerianArmy consists of brave men holding forts.
