2009: Maj Gen Peter #Ademokhai (rtd), ex-GOC 1 Division, ex-member, Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC) was abducted at Iguoriakhi, Ovia North East LGA, Edo state, 23 April 2009; paid ransom, released after 2 days. Earlier, shot by robbers 9 April 1994, hospitalized for 8 months.
2007: Maj Gen Joseph Ayango #Aondo (rtd) was #killed in the federal capital, #Abuja, 14 June 2007. He had been chairman of the political campaign group, #Yar'Adua Associates, was seized at the entrance to his house, driven 5km on the Kubwa expressway, then shot dead in his car.
2010: Maj Gen Edet #Akpan (rtd), ex-Commandant, Nigerian Army Education Corps; ex-DG of National Youth Service Corps (#NYSC); was #kidnapped inside a #church at his home village, Iwok, in Nsit Atai LGA, Akwa Ibom state, 31 Jan 2010. Held captive for 5 days, he was freed 4 Feb.
2011: Brig Gen Umar Jafaru #Uwuigbe (rtd) was hacked to death, his wife seriously wounded, by armed men who invaded their home in Iragon village, Badagry area of #Lagos State, 20 September 2011. Police said killers were from #Benin Republic, working on the general’s farmland.
2012: Maj Gen Mohammed #Shuwa (rtd), former General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army (Aug 1967 – Sept 1969), later Fed Minister for Trade (1975 – 1979), was shot dead at home in Maiduguri, #Borno state, 2 Nov 2012 by suspected Boko Haram gunmen. He was aged 73.
2012: Brig Gen Sylvester K. #Iruh (rtd) was #killed 7 April 2012, by persons suspected to be "hoodlums", at a “black spot” near the Berger Bridge on the outskirts of #Lagos. His last posting was Commandant Army Records, Lokoja, until he was retired in Jan 2009.
2013: Maj Gen Peter #Unuode (rtd), 67, CEO, Bayam Security Guards Ltd, was #kidnapped in Ekiugbo, Ughelli North LGA, #Delta state, 20 Mar 2013. Was “blindfolded...chained to a chair...tortured”. Kidnappers demanded N50m, cut to N5m. Freed after 3 days. Police said no ransom paid.
